Courthouse Athletic Club

Courthouse Athletic Club operates five full-service health clubs and a tennis facility in the Salem, Oregon area.  Twenty eight years after founding Courthouse Athletic Club, the shareholders sought to eliminate company debt and achieve personal liquidity for estate planning reasons.

Based on the shareholders’ objectives, Grace Matthews engineered a creative recapitalization of the company which captured substantially all of the market value of the business for the shareholders in cash, while allowing them to maintain ownership of the operating company.
